Game Highlights for 10/12 State League Games
All FCGB Fall State League teams were playing on Sunday October 12, 2008.
10/12
GB Lightning - FCGB U14 Boys Orange (1-0)
A rough week for the Dow Jones, as well as a rough week (day) for the U14 Boys. Within 2 minutes GB Lightnings left winger had put the ball behind FCGB GK-er Logan V., a great shot after he beat Joey K. and Nate J. off the dribble. FCGB was unable to string a lot together in their poorest outing of the season so far. It left the technical staff wondering if many of our guys are considering a career in the investment buisness and they were potentially just too effected by the happenings on Wall Street this past week. GB Lightning simply was the better and more aggressive team on the day. Good news is that the Dow Jones seems to be heding for a stronger week, let's hope the Boys in Orange will come out different on Sunday in Madison.
FCGB U15 Girls Orange - ASC Arsenal (5-1)
Coach Ross "had a day off" and coach Nur forgot that when you leave your vehicle and lock it, you should not leave your keys in it! So, coach Molenaar had the honor of "hanging out" with the newest FCGB State League team, the U15 Girls Orange. The ladies meant business this afternoon at the Kiwanis Soccer fields, and within 5 minutes Devan S. put the 1-0 in the net, on a shot from about 20 yards out. Gabbie P. made it 2-0 on an assist from fellow Oshkosh native Aubrey S. In the 2nd half the orange kept on attacking the goal of the visitors from the Valley. Cierra P. "cleaned up the scraps" for the 3rd FC goal of the afternoon, after a cross from again Aubrey and a mishit by Katie F. The 4-0 came after a nicely weighted pass in behind the ASC defense from Gabbie who found "Breezy" P. who was able to slot it home. ASC's lonely goal of the afternoon was somewhat of an early christmas gift from FCGB's GK-er Katie McC., a collection touch into the chasing ASC forward after a backpass from Molly P. No worries though, Reanne C. hit a cross to the backpost area and Cierra put it away with a great "fake volley with the right, let it hit of my left shin finish into the corner"! A solid performance from the FCGB defense lead by another great showing from central back Brianna W.
This upcoming weekend, two games, Madison on Saturday and another matchup with ASC in Appleton on Sunday.
FCGB U17 Girls Orange - Mequon Red (0-0)
The U17 ladies did a great job this afternoon of keeping their goal clean, and had some chances to win this game, in which the 0-0 tie was a fair result for both teams. U15 players Kelsey S. (another solid performance) and Gabbie P. came and helped out the U17 girls this afternoon. In the early stages Jessica B. with her aggressive play and her relentless effort set the tone for the ladies in Orange who really wanted a result this afternoon. The McK. sisters, with Jasmine in goal and Maykayla as always solid in the center back position made sure that their would not be any easy goals for the squad from the northern Milwaukee suburb. Katie N. (1v1 with the GK-er) and Gabbie P. (off-balance shot in the box) probably had the best changes on this warm and blustery afternoon. Meqoun also had a few good chances especially in the closing minutes of the game when both teams were still trying to get the 3 points.
A meeting with the local De Pere U17 team on the schedule for this upcoming Sunday.
Croatioan Eagles - FCGB U18 Girls Orange (0-4)
The 18s took an early morning sojourn south to Croatian Park, and kicked off against the hosts at 10am. The Orange started swiftly, with Kara D. opening the scoring in the first five minutes. The match settled down from there as the Croatian GK played very well, snaring crosses and shots all over her box. The second 45 started just the opposite as the checker-colored home side put the pressure on in the first 10 minutes, lofting one over the bar and forcing FCGB Gk-er Jenna P. to make a good save. Once FCGB sorted out how to defend again through midfield, the opponents attack was stymied and the team went to work securing victory. Peplinski broke through on a 1v1 and executed a perfect finish for 2-0, then came perhaps the most aesthetically pleasing goal of the year. Jenna P. started it with a quick catch and punt release to Rebeckah R. who cut and found Chandra E., she slotted a low cross past the GK and in front of the goal line for Peplinski to tap into the net first-time at the far post. Kristin K. added the fourth as an insurance goal, while Lindsay C. was unlucky not to get one when she struck the upright. McKenzie K. and Lauren M. filled the central defence well in yet another shutout. FCGB will put their unbeaten record on the line in their next action this coming Sunday 11:45am vs Blue Crush United MK at Kiwanis Park.
